World Premiere at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed
On July 10, 2025, Maserati unveiled its latest super sports car – the MCPURA – at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, held in the South Downs National Park, West Sussex. Available in both coupé and convertible (“Cielo”) versions, the MCPURA embodies Maserati’s essence of performance and energy.
Evolution of the MC20 Halo Car
MCPURA builds upon the legacy of the MC20 launched in 2020, enhancing its performance DNA with refined design, premium materials, and upgraded finishes. At its core remains the potent 630-CV Nettuno V6 engine – developed entirely in-house – that showcases Maserati’s engineering prowess. This Formula 1-derived powerplant features twin spark plugs and a pre-chamber combustion system, delivering 630 CV at 7500 rpm and 720 Nm from 3000 rpm.
Design and Fuoriserie Personalisation
The debut model featured a striking “Ai Aqua Rainbow” colour – matte for the coupé and gloss for the Cielo – developed under the Maserati Fuoriserie customisation programme. This dynamic hue shifts under sunlight, evoking a prism-like rainbow effect. Magenta and blue mica accents, along with a unique wheel design, elevate the sporty-luxury blend.
Inside, Ice Alcantara seats with 3D laser-etched Trident logos provide a futuristic touch, incorporating dual-tone backings in iridescent red and blue to complement the car’s bold exterior.
A New Italian Icon with Bold Colour Choices
MCPURA’s palette includes over 30 customisable shades from the Fuoriserie programme. Noteworthy new colours include “Devil Orange” – bold and energetic – and two metallic tones: “Verde Royale” and “Night Interaction,” both emphasizing the model’s role as a new Italian luxury icon.
Four Distinctive Highlights
The MCPURA stands out with four key features:
- Carbon-Fibre Monocoque: Lightweight and rigid, total weight under 1,500 kg.
- Nettuno V6 Engine: 630 CV, 720 Nm, and a class-leading 2.33 kg/CV power-to-weight ratio.
- Butterfly Doors: Enhances access while showcasing the carbon structure.
- Retractable PDLC Glass Roof (Cielo): Switches from opaque to transparent in 1 second.
Made in Modena: From Heart to Hand
The MCPURA is handcrafted at Maserati’s historic Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena – where the Nettuno engine, MC20, and future GranTurismo and GranCabrio models are also produced. This facility houses the Officine Fuoriserie for bespoke creations, ensuring that every MCPURA reflects Italian excellence from development to final polish.
As Maserati COO Santo Ficili proudly stated, “With MCPURA, Maserati is reclaiming its rightful place at the top – both in performance and heritage.”
