Gymkhana Returns: Travis Pastrana and the Ultimate Subaru Brataroo
The iconic Gymkhana film franchise is back. Hoonigan and Subaru Motorsports USA have reignited the internet-breaking series with the unveiling of its newest star: the Subaru Brataroo 9500 Turbo, revealed at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
A Reimagined 1978 BRAT Built for Pure Gymkhana Chaos

Based on a 1978 Subaru BRAT, the Brataroo 9500 Turbo is a fully bespoke machine engineered exclusively for Gymkhana. Developed by Subaru of America alongside motorsport specialists Vermont SportsCar (VSC), it is designed to corner, slide, and fly far beyond anything that came before it.
670 Horsepower and a 9,500+ RPM Boxer Engine

Power comes from a rallycross-derived, turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four engine producing 670 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque. With a redline exceeding 9,500 rpm, it is the highest-revving Gymkhana car ever built. Power is delivered through Subaru’s all-wheel-drive system via a six-speed sequential SADEV gearbox and motorsport-grade differentials.
The Most Advanced Active Aerodynamics in Gymkhana History
The Brataroo features the most advanced active aero system ever fitted to a Gymkhana car. Adjustable front fender louvers actively control balance both on the ground and in the air, while two interchangeable rear wings offer either maximum downforce or freestyle agility. The larger wing even expands in surface area as it deploys, enabling unprecedented control during airborne maneuvers.
Carbon Fiber Craftsmanship and a Modern BRAT Identity

Its full carbon-fiber widebody wraps around a VSC-engineered chassis with a WRC-certified roll cage. Designed by renowned artist Khyzyl Saleem, the Brataroo blends sharp, modern proportions with unmistakable BRAT heritage. Retro Subaru branding, Outback-inspired colors, and playful kangaroo graphics complete the visual statement.
“Aussie Shred”: Gymkhana Goes Down Under

Gymkhana 2025: Aussie Shred takes Travis Pastrana across Australia, from the Outback to Sydney Harbour and Mount Panorama. Featuring the biggest jumps and boldest stunts in franchise history, the film also includes cameos from motorsport legends such as Toby Price and Chris Atkinson.
Carrying Forward Ken Block’s Legacy
More than just another film, Aussie Shred stands as a tribute to the late Ken Block, whose vision transformed Gymkhana into a global cultural phenomenon. With the Brataroo 9500 Turbo, that legacy not only continues—but reaches entirely new heights.
