Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa: Career, Nationality, and Age

In April 2025, Ivan Espinosa assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., marking a new era for the global automaker. A seasoned executive in the automotive industry, Espinosa hails from Mexico and is 46 years old as of 2025.

He graduated in May 2001 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. Immediately after, he began his career as a Director at Medios. In 2003, he joined JATO Dynamics as an Engineering Analyst, gaining valuable insight into the automotive market.

Later that same year, Espinosa began his long-standing journey with Nissan, joining Nissan Mexico in product planning. Over the next two decades, he took on increasingly strategic roles across Mexico, Thailand, and Japan, covering key areas such as global product strategy, LCVs (light commercial vehicles), motorsports, and the NISMO performance division.

In 2018, he was appointed Senior Vice President, and in 2019, Executive Vice President, overseeing global product planning and program management. By 2023, he also assumed responsibility for the Motorsports Business Unit. As of April 2024, he served as Chief Planning Officer, leading Nissan’s global product planning, program management, motorsports, and market intelligence.

His appointment as President and CEO in April 2025, followed by his addition to Nissan’s Board of Directors in June, marked a significant milestone in his career. He concurrently serves as a board member for Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd., Nissan’s joint venture partner in China.

Espinosa’s strong technical background, international perspective, and extensive experience in product development and planning position him as a pivotal figure in steering Nissan into its next chapter.
