Cadillac has officially announced its driver line-up for its debut Formula 1 season in 2026, confirming Grand Prix winners Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas as its race drivers.

Experience at the Core

Backed by General Motors and led by former Marussia Sporting Director Graeme Lowdon, Cadillac will join the Formula 1 grid as the sport’s 11th team next season.
The team has opted for experience, signing Perez and Bottas on multi-year deals. Between them, they hold an impressive record of 527 Grand Prix starts and 16 victories, bringing invaluable expertise to the American squad.

Lowdon emphasized their importance, stating: “They know what it takes to succeed in Formula 1, but more importantly, they understand what it means to help build a team.”

Perez’s Perspective

After leaving Red Bull and taking time to reflect on his career, Mexican driver Perez is eager to begin this new adventure.
“Joining the Cadillac Formula 1 Team is an incredibly exciting new chapter,” Perez said. “Cadillac is a legendary name in American motorsport, and together we want to build a team that represents the Americas and competes at the very front.”

Bottas’s Perspective

Finnish driver Bottas, who spent 2024 as Mercedes’ reserve, also sees the project as a unique opportunity.
“It’s not every day you get the chance to help build a team from the ground up,” Bottas said. “This is an iconic brand with deep roots in American racing, and to bring that spirit onto the F1 stage is very special.”

Building the Team

The Cadillac Formula 1 Team will be based across three motorsport hubs – Fishers, Indiana; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Silverstone, UK – combining American innovation with European racing expertise.

GM President Mark Reuss welcomed the drivers, saying: “Perez and Bottas bring the perfect mix of talent, maturity and drive. Together, they will help lay the foundation for a new era of American motorsport in Formula 1.”

As Cadillac prepares for its long-awaited F1 debut, Perez and Bottas will play a pivotal role in shaping its identity. Their return not only marks a fresh chapter for the drivers themselves, but also signals a bold step for American motorsport on the world stage.
