Language Switcher

This customized Honda VT250 SPADA takes the original 1989 model and reimagines it with a modern and sporty flair. While retaining the SPADA’s signature elements—its factory black paint, gold wheels, and distinctive cast aluminum frame—this build blends classic and modern aesthetics through carefully chosen custom parts. These include round bar-end mirrors, a fender eliminator kit, smoke-tinted stick-on indicators, a Daishin Racing exhaust, and a yellow-tinted headlight, creating a simple yet refined fusion of retro charm and contemporary styling.

The Honda VT250 SPADA, introduced on December 8, 1988, was developed as the successor to the VTZ250 and positioned as a lightweight road sport motorcycle. Powering it is a 249cc, water-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC 90-degree V-twin engine. The engine was engineered to improve intake/exhaust and combustion efficiency, optimizing performance especially in the mid- to low-RPM range for urban riding. A wide-ratio transmission was also adopted to enhance versatility.

The bike’s most defining feature is its aluminum cast frame—a technical and visual highlight. The VT250 SPADA was the first motorcycle in the world to feature a full cast frame (CASTEC) using a hollow one-piece aluminum casting structure. This minimized welding points, making the frame both lighter and stiffer than traditional steel frames. Additionally, the manufacturing technique allowed for more design freedom in shaping the frame, broadening the possibilities for style and function. While this casting method is generally costly and difficult to mass-produce, Honda prioritized it to achieve one key goal: weight reduction for better city performance. The result was a dry weight of just 140kg and a curb weight of 153kg.

“Spada” means “sword” in Italian, a name that reflects the bike’s sharp design and performance ethos. The VT250 SPADA was also famously featured in ads with legendary F1 driver Ayrton Senna. It came in four Italian-inspired body colors—Red, Green, Blue, and Black—adding to its distinctive European flair.
