The Maserati MC20 Cielo was unveiled by Maserati in Modena, Italy, on 25 May 2022 as a one-of-a-kind car that delivers true super sports car performance and unprecedented immersive driving pleasure.
The ‘MC’ in the car’s name is derived from Maserati Corse (meaning ‘racing’), the ’20’ from the year 2020, which marks the beginning of a new era for the brand, and the ‘Cielo’ from the Italian word ‘sky’.
The perfect blend of sportiness and luxury, the MC20 Cielo is powered by the innovative 3 L V6 Nettuno engine with a maximum output of 630 hp and maximum torque of 730 Nm, and its most distinctive feature, the innovative electrically retractable glass roof with class-leading insulation and opening speed ( only 12 seconds).
To achieve that special ‘sky feeling’ that links Maserati boldness with the infinite sky, the model is equipped with the latest electrochromic (Smart Glass) windows, which, thanks to polymer dispersive liquid crystal (PDLC) technology, can be instantly changed from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button on the centre screen. to opaque at the touch of a button on the centre screen. These technologies provide a range of driving experiences, including a feeling of openness with the roof closed, brightness inside the car when the roof is transparent and holistic when the roof is down.
The weight increase from the coupé is kept to a minimum of 65 kg, and the carbon-fibre chassis (common to the coupé, spider and future electric versions) guarantees an excellent power-to-weight ratio as well as uncompromising torsional rigidity, resulting in exceptional handling on the road and on the track.
The car also features active safety systems such as parking sensors, rear view camera, blind spot monitor, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign information and a 360° camera.
Developed in the Maserati Innovation Lab and produced at the historic Viale Ciro Menotti plant, the model is 100% made in Modena, Italy, just like the coupé version.
