The Renault 5 Turbo, initially driven by Alain Prost and Jean-Marc Andrié in the 1982 Rallye du Var, underwent refurbishment after an accident. It achieved a notable 3rd place in class and 7th overall in the 1986 Tour de Corse. Former owner Michel Neri campaigned it in 28 rallies from 1983 to 1988, securing two victories and 12 podium finishes.

The car participated in various events, currently sporting the iconic Marlboro livery. Accompanied by a detailed report from Renault 5 expert Gilles Vallerian, it was built in 1982 with chassis “C0000027” and initially produced 220 horsepower.

Despite encountering issues during Prost’s debut race, it was later purchased by Neri and homologated for Group B racing. Neri achieved podium finishes, including a 3rd place in the 1984 Rallye du Maquis. After being sold in 1990, it went through multiple owners before being restored to its original livery and acquired by the current owner in 2020. Overall, this car represents a significant piece of 1980s rallying history.

This vehicle will be up for auction at RM Sotheby’s in Monaco on 10-11 May 2024, with an estimated final price of €200,000 – €250,000 EUR.
